Near Lake Volvi, the remains of Rentina’s Byzantine fortified settlement recall the strategic importance of the Macedonian Tempe valley. Built on a hill, the settlement helped control passage through this corridor. Surviving walls and building remains offer an introduction to the area’s medieval history.

The monument lies inland within the Municipality of Volvi; it is not in Asprovalta or Stavros. Before planning a visit, contact the responsible archaeological authority to check access and whether entry is currently permitted. This description does not confirm that the site is open to visitors.
