Its creation is a collective initiative of the Association of Professionals Operating Rooms to Let in Neos Marmaras, I Filoxenia 1992 – Neos Marmaras Accommodation, in cooperation with the Municipality of Sithonia and with financial and institutional support from the Halkidiki Chamber of Commerce.

More than a simple photographic spot, the Selfie Spot Sign functions as a small symbol of affection for Neos Marmaras: for its hospitality, its sea, its liveliness, and its appeal as one of Sithonia's most beloved destinations. According to a tourism presentation of the area, the new instaspot was created to enhance the promotion of the destination through photographs and social media, offering panoramic views and easy access near the centre.
